Wax poorly chosen for water temperature won't grip. It either softens too much and makes the board messy, or it stays so hard that it doesn't create texture. Cold is the right wax for the Cantabrian Sea practically all year round — even in summer, when the water rarely exceeds 20°C. If you surf in waters that reach 22°C or more in summer (southern Spain, Mediterranean, Canary Islands in high season), consider the Cool or Warm version. To properly apply the base coat, start with gentle circles until a homogeneous layer appears, and then add the grip coat with crossed diagonal movements. A good base lasts longer and grips better than a thick coat applied in a rush.

HOW TO USE AND CARE

• Base coat — First apply a base coat onto a clean board. If you already have a base, go straight to the grip coat.
• Grip coat — Apply Range Wax Cold with circular motions until a uniform texture is created, then cross diagonally to increase grip. It is not necessary to apply thick layers — several thin layers grip better.
• Water temperature — Use Cold in water from 9° to 20°C. If the water is warmer, the wax will soften too much and lose effectiveness.
• Maintenance — If the wax surface loses texture between sessions, a wax comb will reactivate it without needing to add more wax.
• Removal — To remove old wax, leave the board in the sun for a few minutes to soften it and use a wax scraper. Clean the residue with a wax remover or coconut oil before applying new wax.
