The Pipe Stringer is the perfect board for anyone wanting to jump from a foamie to something with more performance without breaking the bank. The PE core with F9 Flex is especially appreciative in cold Atlantic water: it maintains its flex and sensitivity even in winter, which PP doesn't always manage. If this is your first board with a stringer, you will notice the difference in projection when exiting turns: it is immediate. Choose the size that reaches approximately to your navel when standing it on the ground—if you are between two sizes, go with the larger one to gain buoyancy and wave-catching ease.

Mike Stewart was born in Hawaii in 1963 and has been in the water since the modern bodyboard was just starting to take shape. He won nine world titles between 1983 and 1995, has won the Pipeline event a record eleven times, and is the only rider who does not surf standing up to have received the title of Mister Pipeline. In 1987, alongside Ben Severson, he was the first to surf Teahupo'o, long before the Tahitian wave became a fixture of the world tour. Since 1998, Stewart has designed and manufactured his own boards under the Science Bodyboards brand, applying more than three decades of knowledge in wave reading to the design of each model.

USE AND CARE

• Before getting in: attach your wrist leash (not included—sold separately). The PE core is 100% functional without wax, but you can apply it to the deck to improve grip in slippery conditions.
• In the water: the graduated channels work best with your body centered and your elbows well-supported on the deck. The Crescent tail allows for both prone and drop-knee surfing—try both positions to find your style.
• After the session: rinse with fresh water, paying special attention to the channels and seams. Air dry in the shade—prolonged direct sunlight can warp the PE deck.
• Storage: store the board flat or in a cover, away from heat sources. Avoid stacking heavy objects on top of it.
• Transport: do not force, bend, or press on the stringer—it can suffer permanent damage that affects the board's flex.
