Vans was born on March 16, 1966, in Anaheim, California, when Paul Van Doren, his brother Jim, and their partners opened a small shoe shop that manufactured and sold footwear directly to the public. Those first rubber soles with the waffle pattern proved perfect for gripping the griptape of skateboards, and by the early 70s, Southern California skaters had already made them their go-to footwear. Since then, Vans has been synonymous with skate culture, with the "Off The Wall" spirit as a hallmark and direct collaborations with the riders themselves, such as Anthony Van Engelen, to design the footwear that is truly needed on the board.

USE AND CARE

Clean the suede upper dry with a soft brush to remove dust and surface dirt; avoid direct water and abrasive products. Give them a break between intense sessions so the PopCush cushioning can recover its shape, and let the SickStick sole settle naturally during the first few outings to achieve maximum grip.
